Chemical-free physical surfaces resistant to bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation

Brand logo

The Problem

Biofilms are resilient communities of microorganisms that adhere to surfaces and encase themselves in a self-produced extracellular matrix made up of  polysaccharides, proteins, and nucleic acids. This matrix acts as protective barrier, making biofilms highly resistant to disinfectants, antibiotics, immune responses, and environmental stress. As a result, they contribute to a wide range of problems, from chronic infections and antibiotic resistance to equipment fouling, corrosion, and contamination—issues that pose serious maintenance and public health risks. With a global economic impact estimated at $5 trillion, there is an urgent need for innovative, non-toxic, and sustainable solutions to address these challenges effectively.

Current methods to remove biofilms, such as harsh chemical agents, are often corrosive, toxic, and pose detrimental environmental risks. They contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through overuse, require costly frequent reapplication, and come with regulatory and safety challenges around proper handling and disposal.

RhosynBio addresses this by offering a non-lethal, anti-adhesion solution that prevents biofilm formation, extending product longevity and enabling more sustainable practices.

Our Solution

RhosynBio offers a novel chemical-free physical surface resistant to bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation. This advancement enhances the effectiveness and durability of your product, while reducing the risk of infection, contamination, and corrosion. By minimising the need for chemicals and antibiotics, it supports cleaner, more sustainable practices. Our chemical-free surface technology can improve hygiene and may extend product shelf life but can also lower operational costs and environmental impact by cutting waste and resource use.
